Faith and begorrah, we’ve got three…count ‘em…THREE upcoming workdays this week including our first of the year in Deer Grove EAST.

Friday 03/20 - 10 am to 1 pm - Brush Cutting at Deer Grove EAST
We will be cutting some random invasive shrubs right along the bike trail near the parking lot. Sue promises really good snacks.
Meet at the far west end of the Deer Grove East parking lot. Entrance on Dundee between Hicks and Smith.

Saturday 03/21 - 10 am to 1 pm - Brush Cutting at Deer Grove WEST
Pete has been itching to free up an area containing a rare shrub called winterberry which has been taken over by multiflora rose. As you know, multiflora rose likes to fight back, so we are looking for volunteers with thick skin and even thicker work gloves.
Meet at Grove 5 in the first spots near the information kiosk. Entrance off Quentin Road.

Sunday 03/22 - 9 am to noon - Brush Cutting at Deer Grove WEST
Meet at Camp Alphonse. If the lot is full, park across Dundee on N. Palos Ave.

BE PREPARED: Brush cutting workdays mean brush pile fires and sparks may fly. Wear old clothes; natural fibers like cotton or wool are best. Dress in layers because you are sure to warm up from the work and the fire. Bring work gloves (we will have a few pairs to share). Don't forget your drinking water.

The Forest Preserve District of Cook County requires all volunteers under the age of 18 be accompanied by a parent or guardian at workdays.

Only eight days until Spring - of course that means nothing around here where you can go from 70 degrees to snow in the blink of an eye. Nevertheless, the clock is ticking on the number of brush cutting workdays we can have. Let’s keep up the push while we can.

Don't forget your drinking water.

We provide the necessary tools, but we would never say "no" to a treat to share with your fellow volunteers!

CHECK YOUR EMAIL: We will email any updates due to weather or other unforeseen reasons an hour before the workday if needed.
