Two seed-collecting workdays this week.
- Please note the different meeting locations below.
- Weather looks iffy on both days. Make sure to check back here for any updates or cancellations.
- A reminder that the best fabrics for seed collecting (if you don’t want all the seeds sticking to you) are denim or canvas pants; definitely not fleece, rip-stop fabric, or any stretchy knit.
Saturday 09/19 - 9 am to 11 am - at Deer Grove EASTMeet at Camp Reinberg in the outer lot closest to Quentin Road.

Sunday 09/20 - 1 pm to 3 pm - at Deer Grove WEST
Meet at Whitetail Lane off East Hillside Road in the far northwest corner of DG West.

BE PREPARED: Long pants, long-sleeved shirt, garden gloves, and sturdy shoes to protect you from prickly things; bug spray with DEET or Picaridin to protect you from biting things.
Don't forget your drinking water and we would never say “no” to a treat to share with your fellow volunteers!
CHECK BACK HERE: We will post any updates due to weather or other unforeseen reasons an hour before the workday if needed.
The Forest Preserve District of Cook County requires all volunteers under the age of 18 be accompanied by a parent or guardian at workdays.

Upcoming Workdays at Deer Grove
Two Announcements on Seed Collecting…
1. What does the well-dressed seed collector wear if they don’t want to be wearing more seed than they collect? The correct answer is denim or canvas pants; definitely not fleece, rip-stop fabric, or any stretchy knit.
2. Deer Grove East has some very abundant, easy-to-collect seed and we need A LOT of it for a more degraded area. We would love to set a scout or school group to the task sometime in the next month. Any leaders out there with a group who would like to volunteer?
Saturday 09/12 - 9 am to 11 am - at Deer Grove WEST
Meet at the DGW west parking lot - entrance on Dundee just east of Route 14 (NW Highway).

Sunday 09/13 - 9 am to 11 am - at Deer Grove EAST
Meet at the far west end of the DG East parking lot. Entrance on Dundee between Hicks and Smith.
