Two Weekend Workdays at Deer Grove
Garlic Mustard, Dame's Rocket, and Butterweed...OH MY!
These are our targets for the weekend.
Saturday (05/18) - 9 am to noon @ Deer Grove EAST
Meet at the far west end of the Deer Grove East parking lot. Entrance on Dundee between Hicks and Smith.

Sunday (05/19) - 9 am to noon @ Deer Grove WEST
Meet at far west parking lot across from the horse stables - just east of Northwest Highway

BE PREPARED: Long pants, long sleeve shirt, garden gloves, and sturdy shoes to protect you from prickly things; bug spray to protect you from biting things.
Don't forget to bring drinking water - and would never say no to a treat to share.

Two Weekend Workdays at Deer Grove
Did you know that each invasive Garlic Mustard plant produces an average of 600 seeds...and a particularly vigorous plant can produce as many at 7900 seeds?!?!
With that factoid in mind, imagine the exhilaration you will feel with each plant you remove from our beautiful preserve during our weekend workdays.
This is an easy activity for all ages, so bring your friends and family.

Our regular volunteers were joined by a group experiencing volunteering for the very first time in the Forest Preserves. We were able to share more than the joy of pulling Garlic Mustard. There were owls, baby turtles, laughs and conversation.

We have added a second weekend workday.
Besides the Saturday morning workday at Deer Grove EAST, we will be having a second Garlic Mustard workday on Sunday afternoon in Deer Grove WEST.

Saturday Morning Workday at Deer Grove EAST
Saturday's forecast is shaping up to be a perfect morning for Garlic Mustard annihilation!
We will be welcoming a group of brand new volunteers who have signed up to see what we are all about...and I am sure they will be asking the same question we all ask ourselves when the day is over..."Why on earth do they call this a WORK day when it is SO much fun?!"
